The topography around the 350 miles of lake shoreline is varied. There are main lake point lots for sale with superb views; more private cove lots with excellent water frontage; flat or gently-sloping lots with sandy beaches; and cliff-like lots with panoramic lake views.
The nearest towns are Littleton and Roanoke Rapids in North Carolina and South Hill in Virginia. Lake Gaston is operated by Dominion Power and has long been popular for fishing and other water recreation. Lake Gaston is fed by water from Kerr Lake upstream and supplies water to Roanoke Rapids Lake downstream a smaller predecessor to Lake Gaston. It is located between I-95 to the east and I-85 to the west. Because the lake level doesn't vary more than about a foot (except in emergencies,) homes can be built close to the lake.
For those who prefer the affordability of off-water lots, there are many with water views, subdivision amenities such as golf & tennis, and water access; some have boat ramps and boat docks.

GOLF enthusiasts enjoy beautiful and challenging golf courses around the Lake. Some have driving ranges and practice putting greens for warming up.
